Product Detailed Description:

The ADVUL Series Guided Compact Cylinder builds on the proven ADVU compact cylinder design by adding an integrated guide rod and yoke plate assembly. This provides torsion-resistant piston rod guidance, eliminating unwanted rotation during operation — a critical requirement for precision clamping, alignment-sensitive tooling, and applications where rod spin would compromise process quality. The cylinder delivers smooth, stable linear motion without the need for external guide mechanisms, saving both space and installation cost.

Application Industries:

Automotive Assembly,Electronics Manufacturing,Medical Device Assembly,Packaging Machinery,Machine Tool & Metalworking,Automation & Robotics,Optical & Lens Manufacturing,Battery Manufacturing, Textile Machinery,Semiconductor Equipment,Woodworking & Furniture.Hard-anodized aluminum body, elastic cushioning at both ends, and magnetic piston for position sensing ensure long service life and reliable performance. ISO-standard mounting dimensions guarantee full interchangeability with original FESTO ADVUL units.

Like all AIRWORK pneumatic cylinders, the ADVUL series is manufactured to ISO international standards with mounting dimensions fully interchangeable with FESTO ADVUL original units. Every cylinder undergoes rigorous factory testing and comes with CE compliance certification.

Product Advantage:

  • Built-in anti-rotation — no external guides needed. The defining feature of ADVUL over the standard ADVU compact cylinder. An integrated guide rod runs parallel to the piston rod and is rigidly coupled via a yoke plate at the front. This mechanical linkage prevents the piston rod from rotating during motion without any external guide rails, linear bearings, or additional hardware. One compact unit delivers guided, torsion-free linear motion — saving design time, component cost, and assembly labor.

  • Space-efficient guided solution. External guide-rail systems typically double or triple the installation envelope. ADVUL integrates guidance into the cylinder body footprint. The resulting package occupies roughly the same width as the cylinder barrel itself, enabling dense automation layouts that would be impossible with separate guide mechanisms.

  • Threaded body construction for structural integrity. The cylinder body, front cover, and rear cover are joined by precision threads — not tie rods or rivets. This delivers superior structural rigidity under side loads compared to tie-rod designs, and the threaded joint maintains its preload in high-vibration environments where bolted tie rods can loosen over time.

  • Hard-anodized bore with roller-burnished finish. The cylinder bore undergoes mechanical roller burnishing followed by hard anodizing. The mirror-smooth, hardened surface minimizes seal friction, reduces particle generation, and extends seal service life — particularly important in high-cycle guided applications where every unit of friction translates to guide rod wear.

  • Dual-end elastic cushioning. Both stroke ends incorporate elastic cushioning rings/pads. While non-adjustable, this cushioning is tuned for the guided cylinder's operating envelope — effectively absorbing impact energy from the combined mass of piston, rod, guide rod, and yoke plate without the complexity of adjustable air cushions.

  • Dual-rod stability for off-center loads. The parallel guide rod distributes side-load forces across two bearing points (the piston bushing and the guide rod bushing), giving ADVUL significantly higher resistance to off-center loading than a single-rod compact cylinder. This allows direct tool mounting on the yoke plate without a separate support structure in many applications.

  • Magnetic piston with multi-face sensor slots. Every ADVUL cylinder includes a magnetic piston ring. The body features T-slots on multiple faces, allowing proximity sensors to be mounted in any orientation. For stroke-end position verification, this eliminates the need to mount external flag sensors or mechanical limit switches.

  • Full FESTO ADVUL dimensional compatibility. Mounting holes, yoke plate dimensions, guide rod spacing, port locations, and sensor slot positions are manufactured to identical specifications as FESTO ADVUL. Drop-in replacement — unbolt the old cylinder, bolt in the AIRWORK equivalent, reconnect air and sensors, resume production.

Application:

  • Factory Automation & Precision Assembly:

Ideal for high-density automated production lines, including pick-and-place systems, electronic component assembly, and small-parts positioning. The CQ2 series provides reliable linear motion in a footprint-optimized design, making it the preferred choice for modern intelligent manufacturing.

  • Packaging & Processing Machinery:

Widely adopted in packaging equipment for capping, labeling, heat-sealing, and material sorting. Its rapid actuation and high durability ensure seamless performance in high-frequency packaging lines where uptime and cycle speed are critical.

  • Electronics & Semiconductor :

Manufacturing Perfectly suited for space-sensitive semiconductor production equipment and automated testing jigs. The lightweight, thin-profile aluminum body allows for easy integration into compact modular machines where traditional standard cylinders simply cannot fit.

Installation and Usage:

  • Select a cylinder with adequate output force margin when load varies during operation.
  • In high-temperature or corrosive environments, specify Viton seals and stainless-steel components.
  • Take protective measures in dusty, humid, or welding-splash environments.
  • Purge piping of debris before connecting to prevent particle ingress into the cylinder bore.
  • Use air filtered to ≤ 40 μm; lubricated or non-lubricated compressed air is acceptable.
  • For strokes exceeding the recommended maximum, consult AIRWORK engineering for customization.
  • Avoid side loading during operation; external guides should be used if lateral forces cannot be eliminated.
  • For long-term storage, apply anti-rust treatment to exposed surfaces and fit dust caps on ports.

FAQ

Q1.Can ADVUL directly replace FESTO ADVUL cylinders?

A1.Yes. AIRWORK ADVUL cylinders conform to the same ISO mounting standards and dimensional specifications as FESTO ADVUL. They are direct drop-in replacements — no modification to your equipment is required. We provide dimensional drawings for pre-purchase confirmation.

Q2.What makes ADVUL different from ADVU?

A2. ADVUL includes an integrated guide rod and yoke plate that prevents piston rod rotation (anti-torsion). ADVU is a standard compact cylinder without rotation protection. Choose ADVUL when your application requires precise, non-rotating linear motion.

Q3.Can you customize stroke length, seal material, or rod thread?

A3.Absolutely. We offer fully customized strokes, Viton/PU seal upgrades for high-temperature or chemical environments, and special rod-end thread configurations. Custom orders typically ship within 3–5 working days.

Q4.What certifications do ADVUL cylinders carry?

A4. All AIRWORK ADVUL cylinders are CE compliant. Test reports and certificates are available upon request.

Q5. What is the minimum order quantity?

A5.No MOQ for in-stock items. Trial orders and samples are welcome.

Q6. What routine maintenance does the ADVUL require?

A6. Wipe piston rod and guide rod weekly. Check for air leaks monthly. Verify stroke time and yoke plate alignment quarterly. Replace seals and guide rod bushing annually if exceeding 1 million cycles. Complete seal and bushing kits available for all bore sizes.
