Product Advantages

  • ISO 21287 international standard — guaranteed interchangeability. The ADN series is fully compliant with ISO 21287, the globally adopted dimensional standard for compact pneumatic cylinders. Every mounting hole position, port location, rod-end thread, and body dimension is produced to the standard. This ensures physical drop-in interchangeability with Festo ADN/AEN, SMC CQ2, Norgren RM/80000, Aventics CCI, Camozzi 24N, and Parker P1D-C — no adapter plates, no re-drilling, no compromises.

  • Body through-hole mounting — simplest rigid installation. Unlike nose-mount or bracket-mount cylinders, the ADN body features precision-bored through-holes in a standardized ISO pattern. The cylinder bolts directly to the mounting surface from the front or rear face. This delivers a rigid, zero-play connection with exactly two socket-head cap screws — the fastest and most repeatable mounting method available for compact cylinders. No lock nuts, no bracket alignment, no shimming.

  • Shortest installed length in class. The ADN's piston and front/rear covers are engineered for minimum axial dimension. At equivalent bore sizes, an ADN cylinder is 30–40% shorter in overall length than an ISO 15552 standard cylinder. This allows designers to build slimmer machines, fit actuators into tighter tooling envelopes, and reduce the moving mass of reciprocating assemblies.

  • Elastic cushioning with optimized absorption. Both stroke ends feature integrated elastic cushioning rings/plates. While non-adjustable, these cushioning elements are sized specifically for each bore diameter's energy absorption requirement at typical operating speeds. For standard pick-and-place and clamping applications, this passive cushioning provides sufficient impact absorption without the cost and complexity of adjustable air cushions.

  • Low-speed stability — "judder-free" motion. A key design characteristic of the ADN series is its ability to maintain smooth, constant-velocity motion at very low speeds (as low as 5–10 mm/s on properly lubricated circuits). This is achieved through optimized seal geometry and low-friction piston materials. For applications requiring controlled, stick-slip-free approach movements — adhesive dispensing, delicate part contact, inspection probing — the ADN delivers where generic compact cylinders stumble.

  • Aluminum body with hard-anodized bore. The extruded aluminum body is internally roller-burnished and hard-anodized. The resulting bore surface is harder than the piston seal (wear occurs on the replaceable seal, not the cylinder body), has a mirror finish for low friction, and resists corrosion in mildly aggressive atmospheres. External surfaces are anodized to resist handling damage and environmental exposure.

  • Magnetic piston standard . Every ADN cylinder ships with an integrated magnetic piston ring. The body includes external T-slots for mounting proximity sensors, enabling stroke-end detection without additional hardware. Sensors can be mounted on any of the four body faces, providing flexibility for wiring routing in dense installations.

  • Wide bore range — one series fits all. From 12 mm micro-bore to 125 mm heavy-duty, the ADN series spans the full ISO 21287 bore spectrum. One design standard, one mounting pattern, one accessory ecosystem — simplify your BOM and reduce spares inventory by standardizing on the ADN series.

Application:

  • Industrial Automation & Assembly:

Ideal for high-speed automated production lines, including electronic component assembly, semiconductor handling, and small-parts positioning. Its compact design enables precise linear motion in confined spaces, significantly enhancing operational throughput and system integration.

  • Precision Clamping & Jigs:

Integrated into CNC machining fixtures, woodworking clamps, and automotive welding jigs. Its space-saving profile allows multiple cylinders to be mounted in close proximity, providing firm and accurate workpiece holding for drilling, milling, and assembly processes.

  • Commercial & Laboratory Automation

Used in specialized commercial devices and laboratory equipment, such as automated testing stations, medical packaging machines, and large-scale vending systems. It supports accurate and quiet actuation to meet the stringent requirements of clean and space-sensitive environments.

Installation and Usage:

  • Ensure the cylinder’s bore, stroke, and mounting type match your system requirements.
  • Thoroughly clean all pneumatic lines and fittings to remove debris, dust, or metal chips before connection to prevent internal seal damage.
  • Use the integrated internal or external threads for secure installation. Ensure the mounting surface is flat and perfectly aligned.
  • Avoid excessive radial or lateral loads on the piston rod. For applications with side force, we recommend using external guides to prevent premature seal wear.
  • For optimal performance and safety, install Speed Controllers (Flow Control Valves) on the air ports to manage the extension and retraction speed.
  • Use filtered, compressed air (recommended 40μm filtration). While the ADN series is pre-lubricated, if oil-mist lubrication is used, it must be continued consistently.
  • The ADN series features a built-in magnetic piston. Slots on the cylinder body allow for the direct mounting of Proximity Sensors (Reed or Solid State) for reliable position feedback.

FAQ

Q1. What is the main advantage of the ADN Series compared to standard cylinders?

A1. The ADN Series is designed to the ISO 21287 international standard. It offers a significantly shorter overall length (up to 50% space savings) compared to standard ISO 15552 cylinders while maintaining the same output force, making it ideal for compact machinery.

Q2.Is this cylinder interchangeable with other brands?

A2.Yes. Since it adheres to the ISO 21287 standard, the mounting dimensions, bore sizes, and thread specifications are universal. It can serve as a high-quality, direct replacement for major brands like Festo, SMC, or Airtac equivalent models.

Q3. Does the ADN series come with integrated cushioning?

A3. Yes, it is equipped with elastic cushioning rings at both ends to absorb impact energy. For larger sizes or high-speed applications, we also offer versions with PPS self-adjusting pneumatic cushioning for superior noise reduction and longevity.

Q4. Can I monitor the position of the piston electronically?

A4.Absolutely. All ADN cylinders are equipped with a magnetic piston as standard. The extruded aluminum body features integrated slots where proximity sensors can be easily recessed without needing extra brackets.

Q5. Does this cylinder require regular lubrication?

A5. The ADN series is pre-lubricated with high-performance grease, allowing for "oil-free" operation. Under normal conditions, no additional lubrication is required. However, in extremely high-frequency or high-temperature environments, supplementary oil-mist lubrication can further extend the service life.

Q6. What is the operating pressure and temperature range?

A6. The standard operating pressure range is 1.0 to 10.0 bar (14.5 - 145 psi). The operating temperature range is -20°C to +80°C. For extreme temperature requirements, please contact us for customized Viton (FKM) seal options.

Q7.How do I handle side loads on the piston rod?

A7.Compact cylinders are primarily designed for axial (push/pull) forces. If your application involves lateral or eccentric loads, we strongly recommend using a guided version or an external guide unit to protect the piston rod and internal bearings.

Q8. Are different thread types available (NPT vs. G/BSP)?

A8. Yes, we offer both G (Parallel/Metric) and NPT thread options to ensure compatibility with your local pneumatic fittings and standards. Please specify your preference during the checkout process.
